Goods Sheds were originally designed for storing goods before or after carriage in a train. A typical goods shed would include a track running through or into it. This would allow goods wagons to be unloaded from beneath a cover, although sometimes goods sheds were built alongside a track with a canopy over the door.
A shed door to move goods to or from road wagons and vans would allow wagons to pull up parallel to the rail track, or were sometimes used on the side opposite the rail track. Sheds generally included an interior platform as well as a small crane to allow easier loading and unloading of wagons (not included).
